Hiranandani Group, a big name in real estate and infrastructure, has ventured into the semiconductor industry in a significant way. It recently requested 100 acres of land from the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) to build a modern semiconductor park. This move is an indication that the group has determined to branch out into new areas and exploit opportunities in India’s blossoming semiconductor sector.
Writing formally to YEIDA, Darshan Hiranandani revealed Hiranandani Group’s keenness to have a semiconductor assembly testing, marking, and packaging (ATMP) unit within the YEIDA region. “We are currently filing the application with the Government of India under the Indian Semiconductor Mission (ISM). Our group is already successfully operating in UP with our data centre division named Yotta Data Services Pvt. Ltd,” he said. This correspondence shows that the company wants to use its presence in Uttar Pradesh as a stepping stone for this line of business.
The Indian Semiconductor Mission (ISM) is aimed at making India an international destination for semiconductor design, manufacturing, and technology development. By doing so, Hiranandani Group will be able to contribute on a large scale towards reducing reliance on the importation of semiconductors and promoting local capacity building.
Darshan Hiranandani mentioned that his company established Tarq Semiconductors Pvt. Ltd. specifically for this purpose. In its starting phase alone, investment exceeding Rs 2,500 crore is expected to pour into the proposed semiconductor park, whose first phase should be completed within 24 months after approval processes are finalized. Besides showing great confidence in the business of semiconductors, this massive capital injection also confirms their dedication towards economic growth within that locality.
The proposed site for this facility near Jewar Airport has been chosen due to factors such as strategic location and potential for growth. The Hiranandani Group wants to know whether YEIDA can make between 95 and 100 acres of land available in this prime area. Similarly, the conglomerate has identified its infrastructure needs, which include phase 1, which requires 200,000 litres of water per hour, escalating to 750,000 litres per hour for all three stages, while a power substation will be built on the site to provide a capacity of up to 50 MW. These are essential prerequisites for the ATMP unit’s smooth operation because it is a heavy consumer of water and power resources.
YEIDA officials are currently considering the Hiranandani Group‘s proposal. If approved, this move could become an important catalyst for industrial development in the area, attracting secondary industries and creating thousands of jobs. Establishing a semiconductor park would improve this region’s industrial profile and place it as a major player within global semiconductor supply chains.
The decision by Hiranandani Group to put up a semiconductor park at Yamuna Expressway demonstrates its vision and leadership in innovation. By utilizing the opportunities the semiconductor industry offers, Hiranandani Group is well-positioned to play an essential role in shaping India’s technology landscape and economy. With increasing reliance on semiconductor technology globally, initiatives like these are vital to securing India’s self-reliant and robust technological future.
The success of this project would depend completely on the combined efforts of YEIDA, Darshan Hiranandani-led Hiranandani Group, and the Indian Government. If provided with the necessary infrastructure and support, the proposed semiconductor park will be a technological advancement beacon for industrial growth in the region.
